School Example - energy mangement and anti-theft protection

Case: School Library

A typical school library will often have a mixture of old and new IT equipment. In this example, the library has three flatscreens, three new desktop PCs, eight old-fashioned CRT PC monitors, 8 older PCs and a printer. All of the equipment is connected to energy management and the three new flatscreens, and the three new desktops are connected to anti-theft proctection.

The following example is based on a school library with the following IT equipment:

3 pieces PC flatscreens = Phillips 190X6 = anti-theft, energy saving
3 pieces new desktop PCs = Acer Power S280 = anti-theft, energy saving
8 pieces old CRT PC screens = LG 702 17” CRT = no anti-theft, energy saving
8 pieces old desktop PCs = Fujitsu Siemens Scenig P320 = no anti-theft, energy saving
1 piece printer

= Kyocera Mita FS 5015N

= no anti-theft, energy saving

PowerStop solution:
PCs and screens on table 1 are connected to anti-theft protection and to power management. This is done by attaching a PowerStop chip in each screen and PC. The printer must be connected to energy management and this is done through one PowerStop chip. Screens and PCs on table 2 and 3 will not be connected to anti-theft protection, but connected to power management. This is done by setting up two USB power rails on each table, each controlled by one PowerStop chip. The four screens are connected to one power rail and the four PCs are connected to the other.
